This week we created test plans and paper prototypes meant to assist in our user research sessions. Paper prototyping is a simple, low-cost strategy for quickly assessing how users will respond to your intended workflows and wireframes. Also, let it be noted, paper prototyping is fun. Sketching, cutting, and taping my way through had me feeling like it was adult arts & crafts happy hour.
I am looking forward to testing out my design on some "real" users (i.e., friends and family coerced into participating in my research sessions), fielding their questions, getting their feedback, and observing their overall feel for what this app is, their uses for it, and how well the workflow I have designed best fits their mold for an ideal reminder application. I'll report back next week with how amazingly (or horrid) my first-ever research sessions go. Let's do this!
